Top Licensees Leading FY26-27 Gains: Who's Growing in Financial Advising? (2026)

The financial year 2026-2027 has kicked off with a surge in licensee gains, according to Padua Wealth Data, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the initial negative outlook. The numbers tell a tale of resilience and strategic growth, with two licensees leading the charge by attracting over 10 new advisers each. Initially, the financial landscape seemed bleak, with a dip below 15,000 advisers and a significant exodus of 271 advisers between May and June. However, a remarkable rebound occurred within just 10 days, restoring the adviser count to 15,032. This turnaround is attributed to the efforts of 46 licensee owners who managed to secure 39 new advisers, a testament to their strategic maneuvers. The data reveals a diverse landscape, with larger licensees like WT Financial and Rhombus attracting the majority, but also highlights the emergence of boutique licensees making their mark. Among these, Melbourne-based George Sabini stands out, having taken on seven new advisers, bringing its total to 10. Similarly, Sydney-based Sofie Korac/Springboard and the newly established RGHB have each added six and five advisers, respectively, showcasing the appeal of smaller, specialized firms. Colin Williams, the founder of Padua Wealth Data, attributes this positive trend to a combination of factors. He notes that the larger groups are actively recruiting, and there's a steady influx of advisers setting up or joining their own AFSLs, a pattern typical at the start of a new financial year. Additionally, the recent exam results, with a 71.7% pass rate, have contributed to the flow of new advisers, with 20 new entrants joining the FAR during the week, a significant increase from the previous exam cycle. The exam's consistent pass rate of 71.6% in March, coupled with the relief from fluctuating marks in 2025, has likely played a pivotal role in attracting fresh talent. Looking ahead, the next ASIC advice exam is scheduled for August 2026, with the booking period opening in July. This ongoing stream of new advisers is not just a numbers game but a strategic move, reflecting the industry's resilience and adaptability. As the financial year progresses, these licensee gains and the influx of new advisers will be crucial in shaping the market's trajectory, offering a more optimistic outlook for the future.
